Philip Mazza is a novelist with boundless imaginative gifts - a spellbinding storyteller who has created for us a captivating world with The Harrow Saga, the acclaimed dystopian tale The Neon Hive, and a growing collection of diverse narratives. His readers consistently praise the depth of his world-building and the compelling nature of his characters, drawing them into adventures both grand and intimate.

Born and raised in upstate New York, he grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy. Philip received his undergraduate degree from LeMoyne College, where he majored in Business, and later went on to earn a graduate degree from Purdue University. His career focused on human resource management and operations, holding leadership positions for companies both large and small. He has also served on the boards for several not-for-profits. Now a Professor at the Madden School of Business at LeMoyne College, Philip dedicates much of his time to his classes and students.

A writer since high school and heavily influenced by Tolkien and Vonnegut, it took him ten years to finish writing his debut novel From Under a Tree, which was published in 2014 to critical acclaim. Two years later, a Special Edition was published. Philip writes epic fantasy (The Harrow Saga), and science fiction. His latest releases include the dystopian gem The Neon Hive, the post-apocalyptic saga At the End of It All, a collection of science fiction and short stories The Quantum Gardner, the unforgettable novella Beneath the Ashen Sky, the poignant The Road to Stillwater, and the hilarious I Know God is a Cat.

A lover of these genres, he finds himself meeting new, intriguing characters all the time in his own fictional worlds. Within the sprawling landscapes of epic fantasy, echoing the intricate world-building of Tolkien, he meticulously crafts heroes and villains, weaving tales of perilous quests and ancient prophecies. Simultaneously, his science fiction narratives, sometimes tinged with a darkly comedic and humanistic lens, explore the potential and pitfalls of future societies and technologies, often prompting readers to reflect on the present through a distorted, yet recognizable, mirror. This ongoing internal dialogue with his fictional creations fuels his prolific output, allowing him to seamlessly transition between the gritty realities of a post-apocalyptic world, the neon-drenched anxieties of a dystopian city, or the quiet introspection of a character on a poignant journey. For Mazza, these genres are not merely forms of entertainment, but rather fertile grounds for exploring the complexities of the human condition and the boundless possibilities of imagination.

These days, Philip tends to get sidetracked by his love for teaching, reading, travel and gardening. When he can, he grabs any bit of free time, usually early in the morning, and escapes to his office to write. He and his wife enjoy travel; they continue to live in upstate New York and spend time in Key West.
